Scheepvaartmuseum is re-opened

Scheepvaartmuseum was built in the National Naval Depot in 1656 as a storage building for the Navy. This historic architecture was designed by a Dutch architect Daniel Stalpaert.
The content of Scheepvaartmuseum highlights the maritime history of Netherland and hence also equally popular as Maritime Museum. Its detailed thematic collection includes paintings related to shipping and sailing, models of various ships, art and artefacts and different historical weapons. Maritime Museum gives you unforgettable collections during the Golden Age of Amsterdam, traditional trading expeditions, history of commercialisation and many more those establish Scheepvaartmuseum as the second-largest maritime collection in the world.
Scheepvaartmuseum has world class collections of the first edition of ‘De Moluccis Insulis’ by Maximilian Transylvanus and ‘Voyage Round the World’ by Ferdinand Magellan.
In the water next to the museum, you can find the replica of famous Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie’s commercial ship ‘Amsterdam’. The original Amsterdam sailed in the North Sea in between the Netherlands and the East India in 1749.The replica Amsterdam was built during the years 1985 to 1990 and is equally attracts visitors from every corner of the world.
The new Scheepvaartmuseum has been reopened with equal historic values with a confederation of possibilities for private entertainments and business dealings. The new classic addition of a spectacular glass –roofed inner court can be used for business ventures or private parties that can accommodate thousand participants at a time. Three sophisticated chambers with wonderful water-view give an additional appeal to the commercial world.
